Britney Spears Battles Conservatorship and the Spotlight

Britney Spears is fighting for her right to be done with performing – but just for now, though.

The 38-year-old pop star recently revealed that she is battling with her father, Jamie Spears, over the reinstatement of attorney Andrew Wallet as a co-conservator.

According to Los Angeles County Court documents, the “If U Seek Amy” hitmaker also wants to stop performing live for the foreseeable future, but not indefinitely.

This is in part due to the ongoing pandemic limiting her ability to perform shows, and that she wants to make “difficult budgetary choices going forward”, which will exclude a second conservator of her estate. Her father remains solely responsible for her estate, a position in which he remains following an August court appearance.

Spears has suffered several heavily publicised personal issues since 2007, including substance abuse and a highly emotional divorce from rapper Kevin Federline. These resulted in her being committed to a psychiatric ward at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Centre in Los Angeles, California, in 2008.
