Angelina Jolie Requests Judge’s Exclusion from Divorce Case
Hollywood actress, Angelina Jolie, has asked for the removal of the judge in the divorce case between her and fellow actor, Brad Pitt, following new revelations.
“Brangelina” – the nickname the press gave the pair – were together for ten years before they officially tied the knot in 2014, and have six children together.
They were officially divorced in April last year, but still have other ongoing issues.
The former power couple hired a private judge to oversee the proceedings regarding the custody of their children, as well child support and the division of financial assets.
However, Jolie’s lawyer, Samantha Bley DeJean, recently discovered that Judge John W. Ouderkirk had an “ongoing professional and financial relationship” with Pitt’s attorneys – Anne C. Kiley and Lance Spiegel.
Ouderkirk previously worked on several cases for the attorneys, resulting in a consistent working relationship. The matter is enough to bring up a conflict of interests for the parties mentioned.
According to papers filed on Monday, 10 August, Judge Ouderkirk failed to “ultimately disclose” the aforementioned fact, and this error on his part conclusively means he is unable to remain impartial for the remainder of their case.
None of the parties mentioned have responded to Jolie’s claims.
